Colby Leider :: About


Colby Leider is a composer, music instrument builder, author, and educator. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music and teaches various courses in introductory digital audio signal processing, new musical interfaces, analog audio electronics, sound synthesis, and computer music. His music is recorded on Innova, ICMA, and SEAMUS labels, and his book The Digital Audio Workstation, a general-reader introduction to computer-based audio production, was recently published by McGraw-Hill Professional. He also recently chaired the 30th Annual International Computer Music Conference. Colby holds degrees from Princeton, Dartmouth, and the University of Texas at Austin. He helps raise goats, chickens, turtles, and orchids with his wife, Kristine H. Burns, and son Liam in Redland, a rural community southwest of Miami near the Florida Everglades. Colby and Kristine recently started Everglade Records, a 501(c)(3) Florida corporation devoted to the production and dissemination of experimental audio and video art presented in high-definition formats.
